Obedience

Matthew 25:40 (NKJV)
And the King will answer and say to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.”

How do we demonstrate our obedience to God?  At first thought, Jesus Christ’s example of obedience comes to mind as He left heaven (His home) and came to the mission field of Earth. It is a form of obedience that led Christ to the cross.  Therefore, how do we respond when Christ calls us to the mission field or to our neighbor? Will we go like Christ and be the hands and feet of God?  Will we share Christ with our neighbors?  Will we read the words in the Bible and actually not turn a blind eye to what we have just read?

We must be believers that are readers of the Word and doers of the words of Christ (James 1:23-25).  Jesus Christ has shown us many examples of obedience in the Word of God such as sharing kindness and blessings from town to town.  As Jesus was speaking to the Samaritan woman, He was doing the will of the Father by sharing eternal life and the forgiveness of sins to a woman entrenched in sin (John 4:7-14).  Therefore, when questioned by the disciples why He was speaking to the Samaritan woman, Jesus replied (John 4:34), “I am here to do the will of Him who sent Me.” There are countless acts of obedience as we look at the examples of Jesus’ life in Scripture.  Generations of salvation depend on our acts of obedience.

Let us make sure we are obedient in serving others and doing the will of the Father as Christ has commanded us to.

Prayer:
Father God, thank You for living a life of sacrifice and service. May You allow me to lead a life of sacrifice and service to the people that You have placed around me and to the people that are abroad.  Amen
